2018 Ram 2500 Get High HP Cummins Engine and Other Updates
The Ram (originally the Dodge Ram) started life all the way back in 2010; that’s when the Ram separated from Dodge (but it is still manufactured by the Fiat-Chrysler group), although the Ram name was first used all the way back in 1981.
It’s one of the most successful full-size pickups on the market, perhaps even one of the best-selling vehicles in the U.S. regardless of body styling. It has won the ‘Truck of the Year’ five times since being introduced and continues to dominate a very competitive market.
There is little information available regarding the new 2018 Ram heavy duty, except for what will be powering it, but this is what we know.
2018 Ram 2500 Cummins Specs
What diesel engine will dodge use in 2018 Ram? It has long been rumored that Cummins will be supplying something a little more powerful, insider speculation and rumor has it that for the first time ever in a production vehicle, we’ll see an 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins engine fitted that has more than 1,000 lb/ft of torque. However, the exact 2018 Dodge Cummins specs are not known yet. This would make the Ram 2500 the most powerful (torque wise) production vehicle ever made. 2018 Dodge Cummins horsepower rating is not known yet.
We can’t wait to try this monster truck – enough power to lug the world around; what’s not to like?
Of course, there will be other minor updates for the Ram pickup; think easy styling upgrades like the bumpers and lighting at the front and rear, but none of those will be significant, certainly not when compared to what’s under the hood! The Ram truck expected to finally have a proper diesel engine.
When Do the 2018 Dodge Rams come out
We believe that the new 2018 Ram 2500 will hit the showrooms in the third quarter of 2017; it is doubtful that we’ll see it any sooner, although fully camouflaged trucks have been seen out testing on public highways. No one knows, by the way, when is Ram going to change body style. The 2018 Ram 2500 concept will be the same.
Of course, much depends on the options ticked, the powertrain fitted and the trim level chosen, but for the base model, we think the pricing will remain similar to the current prices, this should mean the base model of the 2018 Ram HD will be in the region of $34,000 – the market is just too competitive to raise the prices too high.
We mentioned earlier that there is very little information regarding the new 2018 Ram 2500 redesign, the biggest news is all about the powertrain that we’re likely to see; all of the test vehicles seen on public highways have been debadged – no manufacturer badges whatsoever. However, instead of the Ram markings, these trucks have all been fitted with a Cummins badge, leading to speculation as to what we’ll see under the hood.
