2018 Lexus LC 500 is the new player in GT segment
At the recent Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance show, Lexus announced that they would be putting the new 2018 Lexus LC 500 model in to production.
This isn’t a sportscar, but it’s more than a humdrum coupe, perhaps going back to what was once called a ‘Grand Tourer’; something with enough get up and go to make it reasonably fast and enough room and comfort to make long journeys comfortable – perfect for spending days behind the wheel, taking on long twisting mountain roads in Europe for example.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Price
Much speculation surrounds the pricing of the car. To remain competitive with the Euro offerings, 2018 Lexus LC 500 cost have to come in at not much more than $100,000, although there are rumors that Lexus may pull something special out of the pricing bin and start it for less, around $95,000.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Release date
Although Lexus have confirmed that the new 2018 Lexus LC 500 will go in to production, they haven’t confirmed when we’ll actually be able to buy it. We think that Lexus will announce the date in early 2017, with an expectation that we’ll see the LC 500 in the showrooms in the third quarter of 2017.

2018 Lexus LC500 Redesign and changes
Expect something special. Lexus are all in to take on the competition, this shows in the fact that they have developed a bespoke platform for the LC, although it will go on to be used in other Toyota vehicles later in its life.
This platform, known as GA-L is a multi-material composite, rear wheel drive platform. Designed to be lightweight, lower the center of gravity and increase the dynamic ability of the new model. It will give the 2018 LC 500 a near perfect 52:48 front to rear weight distribution.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe
The car is available only as a 2-door Grand Touring coupe with 2+2 seating formula. It has a very attractive sleek design which actually makes the LC 500 very attractive and prettier than most of Lexus cars of recent years.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Convertible
The version of the car with a foldable roof is not yet released, there are even no spy shots available. Only car producer would know whether it will be released or not. We could guess that it depends on future customer reviews on LC 500, along with potential buyers wishes. The convertible version is more likely to have foldable hardtop, rather than soft top.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Specs
Under the hood, we will see a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 motor, pushing out around 470 BHP and 400 lb/ft of torque, enough to push the LC to 60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds.

There will be a hybrid version, believed to use a 3.5 liter V6 with a single electric motor (enough for 354 BHP). Lexus say that they wanted to keep the naturally aspirated sound of the V8, but we think there will be a forced induction model later in the production cycle.
Power will be sent to the rear wheels via an all-new 10-speed transmission.
The LC 500 will keep its weight down thanks to composite materials and carbon fiber panels throughout the car; one option for a buyer is to replace the heavy glass roof with a carbon fiber roof for example.
Expect to see the usual level of build quality and technology fitted to a Lexus, detailed touches include magnesium alloy shift paddles, active aero and active cooling.
