Despite many rumors, spy shots and speculations, Kia Sedona doesn't get a facelift for 2018 model year. Unlike 2016 and 2017 models which were received a minor upgrades to equipment, 2018 model year car get literally none improvement or new features. Regarding transmission, there were predictions that Sedona finally get more advanced 8-speed automatic for better fuel efficiency. None again - the same 6-speed automatic gearbox aboard.
The design was keep the same as before.

2018 Kia Sedona Release date and price range

The car is already available for sale. The initial price for standard trim starts at $26,900 MSRP, and goes up to $41,900 for a higher trim without options.
We expect that 2018 Kia Sedona will be the last model year of the minivan, the all-new generation vehicle or deep facelift expected in 2019-2020.

Design

The overall design of the Sedona is nice; you cannot call it pretty, looking much like Sorento SUV, borrowing some parts from other Kia vehicles. Chrysler looks more chic, while Toyota is rather old-fashoined. So if you need something in between - Kia is a good choice.

The same thing with interior - it is way better looking (and feel) than Toyota, but lack of premium upholstery you may find in Pacifica. What is more, it look exactly like in many other Kia cars, makes it feel second grade. However, the upholstery quality, number of gadgets and hi-tech features are great, so the interior is still good.

Top trim levels provide almost a executive level of comfort and convenience - leg rests for second row seats, built-in power outlets... in Sedona it is better to ride as a passenger.

2018 Kia Sedona Specs

The technical part of the Sedona hasn't changed since the initial release in 2014. But it simply doesn't need to. Powerful 3.3L GDI V6 engine of Lambda family produce 276 HP and 248 ft-lb of torque - pretty enough for almost anything. For domestic Korean market, the car also comes with 2.2-liter turbodiesel.

6-speed gearbox is adequate, but comparing to Chrysler's 9-speed ZF it is lack of efficiency, and therefore has bigger fuel consumption (18 MPG in city and 25 MPG in highway). We also lack of any AWD system just to feel more secure in slippery road.

There are also no Kia Sedona hybrid version for 2018, so if you want to go full ECO, it is better to stick with Chrysler Pacifica.
