2018 Infiniti QX50 Will Get Innovative Engine
The all-new Infiniti model is likely to be almost a revolution - all-new design, it would replace the previous generation, producing since 2008 with some changes, and it is likely to get an innovative Infiniti engine with variable compression ratio.
The spy shots of the new car fluctuating on the web for quite a while, showing heavily disguised SUV but with character headlights and overall shape, closer to other sport utility vehicles of the brand.
Experts say that next generation QX50 for 2018 model year is going to switch from the rear-wheel-drive longitudinal engine mount to QX30-based Daimler platform, sharing one with GLA-class Mercedes-Benz as well. That's also mean transverse engine mount and relatively large front overhang. This could increase the interior space, however, make the car less prowler in terms of handling.
Release date and Price
Looking at the fresh spy shots with minimal-disguised prototypes, with the fully assembled interior, we could predict that 2018 Infiniti QX50 release date would happen soon - we expect the reveal in late 2017 or in the beginning of 2018 (in Detroit), while the sales start a couple of months after the reveal.
The pricing level is unknown, but we expect it could be a $2-5K higher than the current version, means the initial price in the region of $37,000-$40,000.
2018 Infiniti QX50 Design
The SUV is going to be placed between compact QX30 and three-row QX60 model, so the dimensions are likely to be something in between. The previous generation wasn't so popular, mainly due to the lack of space in the interior. The next 2018 QX50 is going to be much more comfortable in this aspect, at least on the same level as main rivals.
As for exterior design, the car will almost double the QX Sport Inspiration concept car which debuted in 2016. The spy shots show that car has distinctive rear pillars used in many other Infiniti models and many other similar design details.
Interior is way more modern (thanks to spy photographers again), but it somehow lacks the personality, and looks exactly like some Korean car - doesn't look enough premium. But at least it's not as outdated as before. There is also a two-tier touchscreen and lots of buttons underneath. Gear lever of the electronic type, and a knob of AWD system configuration placed on the transmission tunnel.
2018 Infiniti QX50 Engine Range
Almost nothing is known about the future engine range of the upcoming SUV, the only thing we know is that QX50 is very likely to be the first-ever Infiniti model to have innovative variable compression ratio engine, which has 4 cylinders, 2-liter displacement, and a turbocharger. The technology varies the ratio between 8.0:1 to 14.0:1. The unit is producing 268 HP and 288 lb-ft of torque.
Previous generation car had big and powerful 3.7L V6 engine with the output of 325 HP, so we could expect another engine to the lineup to fill the niche.
