Finally a Buick Regal GS 2018 Arrived

The previous generation Regal wasn't spectacular at all - just a average mid-size sedan and that's all. Rumors about the all-new GS version were fluctuating for quite a long time - at least since 2015. Finally, GM shows the modern successor of a legendary GNX and GS models of muscle car era. It is not so muscle, but could beat up many - just check out - naturally-aspirated V6, all-wheel drive, stylish liftback body. Is it really that good?

Buick Regal GS 2018 Performance and Specs

The first thing to find out - is it fast and powerful enough, compared with the previous generation? The latest Regal GS was a badge-engineered Opel Insignia OPC, features 2-liter turbocharged I4 unit, produced 260 HP. That's quite a lot out of 4 cylinders. It also had 6-speed automatic as a gearbox.
What 2018 Buick Regal GS could suggest?

New Regal GS has more power in every way - meet 3.6L V6, producing 310 HP and 282 lb-ft of torque. What does it mean for performance figures? We don't know yet, since there is neither official data nor testing results. We expect around 4.8-5.1 seconds range for 0-60 acceleration. Top speed around 160-165 MPH.

By the way, the AWD system is stanard and only choice for 2018 Buick GS. It has advance torque vectoring system and a twin-clutch. As the gearbox, the new car comes only with a 9-speed automatic. Strangely, no manual gearbox available, or at least paddle shifters.

GNX Possibility

The main question arise after the meeting with the new Regal GS is 'why didn't they put a turbocharger?'. The 2018 Regal GS model use the very same engine as flagship Buick, without major changes.
It may look that GM is prepare something harder - Regal GNX which could use the same 3.6L V6 but with turbocharger, means around 400 HP - nice rival for Audi S7, for instance.

Regal is all-new and all-beautiful car. The GS is not an exception. Now it comes in liftback body - which means coupe-like sedan with trunk opening along with rear glass (like Audi A5 Sportback, Porsche Panamera). This is way more practical than ordinary sedan.

2018 Buick Regal GS has all features you could expect from hot car - badges, large rims, advanced brake system, rear spoilers and splitters. The car looks exactly like it should.

2018 Buick Regal GS Interior and Price

The interior looks modern, well-performed. The seats are sporty and bucket type, as it should on a sports car. It also has aluminum pedals, D-shape steering wheel. In every other aspect it is the same as any other Regal of the new generation. The exact equipment level of the 2018 Buick Regal GS is not known yet, but looking at interior shots, we could assume it would have leather seats, steering wheel and shift knob, all-power accessories, electric parking brake, dashboard screen, 6-inch multimedia with smartphone connectivity support, 2-zone climate control, keyless access with push-button start.

The price for the new GS has recetly announced - it is $39,990 MSRP, which is less than rival Acura TLX with similar AWD system, which costs around $46,000. That's a pretty nice price for a sports sedan.
