2017 Mercedes CLA is sportier than before
The Mercedes-Benz CLA was first introduced in 2013, it’s similar in style to the curvy 4-door coupe of the CLS, but just a bit smaller, in fact it’s Merc’s smallest sedan in the whole family range.
It was introduced to try and widen MB’s market share, open up a new market to them – attract the younger, perhaps ‘cooler’ buyers that up until now, wouldn’t have normally picked a Mercedes. The new 2017 Mercedes CLA has a list of options as long as you like, although there is some reasonably good equipment fitted as standard.
2017 Mercedes CLA Release date
We are expecting to see the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA to hit the showrooms later this year, in fact any day now really.
2017 Mercedes CLA Price
Prices haven’t yet been confirmed, there is no official announcement and even the regular sources are remaining quiet, but we think that the 2017 model will start around $33,000.
2017 Mercedes CLA Redesign and changes
Quite a lot has happened with the new CLA, it seems sexier, sleeker and just that bit cooler; it’s like the hipster of the car world! The exterior has been updated with new bumpers, restyled front-end, LED lighting and small rear lip spoiler. The overall appearance really does work, right down to the frameless door glass.

2017 Mercedes CLA Interior
Inside the cabin, we have the MB-Tex synthetic upholstery, adaptive cruise control, Bluetooth and rear view camera, however, there are some good options, including: Adaptive suspension, Keyless Go, Panoramic sunroof and a Parktronic system with Active Park Assist.
We also see a redesigned ‘youthful’ interior with chrome plated controls, new instrument cluster and an 8” touchscreen infotainment system and control unit.
In all honesty, the touchscreen looks almost an afterthought, but it does work well and it really is only because the surround looks lower-tech, perhaps Mercedes need to give it a little more thought.
2017 Mercedes CLA Specs
Under the hood, there are a number of powertrain choices, starting at the lowest end is a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder turbo charged gas engine producing 208 BHP or you could go all in for the CLA45 which is also built on the same 2.0 liter turbo engine, but knocks out an incredible 375 BHP and 350 lb/ft of torque. With the base engine, power is sent to the front wheels and the combined economy works out to around 30 MPG. All engines run through a 7-speed dual clutch auto transmission, and front wheel drive is standard but there is a choice for an all-wheel drive (with front bias).
