2018 GMC Acadia is a brilliant 7-seater

The 2018 GMC Acadia is GMC’s answer for the luxury 7-seat crossover market. It’s large and well-priced, meaning that it’s quite popular, although if you really are in the market for a luxury SUV, there are many other choices which look better.

Available in front-wheel drive with an all-wheel drive option, the Acadia really is toward the lower end of luxury, unless you tick every option box on order.

However, that isn’t to say that it isn’t a good car; GMC have worked hard on making this crossover more attractive to buyers, they’ve added more and updated the equipment, improved the ride and even upgraded the upholstery somewhat.

They’ve also pulled off a magic trick; making the inside bigger whilst losing some of the overall dimensions on the exterior.

Acadia competes with Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander.

2018 GMC Acadia Release date

We expect to see the 2018 Acadia unveiled to the public during early to mid-2017, with full production and sales happening later that year.

2018 GMC Acadia Price

Prices are very dependent on options fitted; from base model to full flagship model, you could pay as much as half again – prices should start at around $31,000 and go as high as $48,000.

2018 GMC Acadia Redesign and changes

Starting with the powertrain, we should see two choices for power for GMC Acadia 2018 model year; 3.6 liter V6, producing 300 BHP and 280 lb/ft of torque and averaging around 25 MPG and a 4-cylinder 2.5 liter which produces about 200 BHP and achieves a slightly more frugal 29 MPG. Both will be coupled to a 6-speed auto transmission, driving the front wheels or an option for all-wheel drive. 2018 Acadia diesel version has not been released.

Unlike the rumors about 2018 GMC Acadia to get 8 speed transmission - it could be, but the current generation of car has only 6-speed gearbox.

Thanks to the use of aluminum, the weight should also be reduced slightly, despite the crossover actually growing in size; there is a third row of seating, meaning that carrying 7 passengers is possible, although legroom for the third row is a bit cramped.

2018 GMC Acadia All Terrain

This modification is designed especially for a harsh road and weather conditions, sand and gravel terrains. Unlike the standard 2018 Acadia GMC, All-terrain version has advanced all-wheel drive system with active twin clutch. It has one-tone styling of the exterior, 2 row of seats in the interior and retuned suspension.

2018 GMC Acadia Denali

2018 Acadia Denali is the top-end modification of the car, which bearing its name traditionally for a GMC vehicle. It is top in every aspect. Starting with the exterior with premium chrome accents. Then interior with real wood inserts, comfortable leather seats, aluminum details. The car also has 7-inch multimedia with navigation, advanced safety systems (forward collision alert). It also has power tailgate with hands-free access.

2018 GMC Acadia Equipment

In a bid to attract a wider market, GMC have included lots of toys as standard equipment of the 2018 Acadia SUV; 8” touchscreen with navigation, driving mode selector, OnStar, 4G LTE wireless internet, Android and Apple car connectivity, rear facing camera, IntelliLink, Bluetooth, collision avoidance and lane assist.

As regards the updates, the weight loss should help with ride quality and handling, and the designers have restyled the fenders and the front grille, it also has a new exhaust system and restyled LED headlamps.

You could name it 2018 GMC Acadia Limited, but the name for top-end modification is Denali.

All in all, the 2018 GMC Acadia is a great budget luxury SUV crossover, it just isn’t that pretty.
